Interview with Jamesie

Q...How did you get involved in the band?
A...About 6 years ago I had my own garage working on cars. An old friend had brought his car into get fixed and I noticed that he had all these highland weapons and stuff in the back of the car.......as I was into the whole Scots history bit, I got into the subject with him and the end result was me going along to a couple of gatherings.
At first I took nothing to do with the band side of things, I was drafted into the fight crew....you know big swords....hairy guys in plaids battering each other for the cameras.......it was real fun but I admit I always kept one eye on the band side of the clan.
After a while the whole clan split up.......you know what the clans are like, always fighting....well this was no different.
I broke with the splinter group and started getting involved in the P.R side of the band, i.e. looking for gigs....venues...that sort of thing.
At this time there was a young lassie playing the bass drum and I am not taking anything away from her, but the was no aggression.....no passion in her style....and for me it rubbed off on the rest of the band.
It just so happened that she did the off away to study or something and I was offered a crack at the "BIG DRUM".....well I made that drum mine......hit it hard and moved with the rhythm.....from then on it was my drum...anyone who touched got told to “p*** off!!”

Q....what do you expect from the new band?
A.....much the same Davie but with more aggression in the show.....more energy on stage and more foot stomping tunes!
We have spent a lot of time building the music to where we got it over the last 6 years and, make no mistake, I nor anybody in ALBANNACH is about to walk away from that.............so we will carry that forward....take it up a gear as to speak.

Q....What's the future plans for the band?
A....I think that the band is ready for the assault on Canada....and the west coast of the States...not forgetting the mid-west....but you know as much as I do that there only so much the band can do.........unless we all moved out here....you got the spare room Davie?

Q....Finally we have an agent on board...
A.....we both know that it was high time that we took someone else on board here.....and we haven't just jumped in either...Donovan Murray is a sound guy with a great background in the music industry who will be a valued member of the Albannach team!!

Q....we've played all over the world........any places or memories that stand out?

A....its got to be playing the drums in Moscow's red square....I mean for so many years you couldn't even fart there for getting into trouble.....and there we were giving it big strokes on the pipes and drums......unreal!!!
I think the one fun story that stands out is the legendry one in which you missed the plane home.............motorbike, helmet with horns on, thunder storms....mad man with axe in the local bar.....thrift shop tartan trousers.........dude that story has it all...........the making of a movie!!!
